Even though email has been around for longer than SEO and social media marketing, it's still one of the most important elements of building your sustainable songwriter or artist career.

You can see lots of superstar examples of this technique in action including the recent explosion of artist branded bars on Nashville’s Lower Broadway (Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Alan Jackson), and Trisha Yearwood’s pots and pans / cooking show, just to name a few.

It’s easy to see how building a brand is effective for superstars, but what about for people who are just getting started?

When you’re connecting with your fan base, it’s important to develop a relationship with them.
